Overview:
Is your Superpower in the "wizardry" of Digital Design and Project Management?  Our world-class Lansdale Digital Engineering team needs your skills! Our Digital Engineering Manager role will manage new technical design, development, analysis, implementation, and test of digital hardware and associated software to interface with complex RF subsystems and/or motion-controlled positioner assemblies. The candidate will provide leadership for key project segments and take responsibility for achievement of schedule and technical performance by all department personnel located at various sites (primarily Lansdale, PA).

 

The ideal candidate is a leader with a strong embedded software and digital signal processing (DSP) background who takes a programmatic approach to development for project design, estimation, execution, and performance tracking. The individual may be an active contributor while coordinating work closely with other management disciplines to help drive a strong engineering organization that delivers quality products on-time and on-budget.

Responsibilities:
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of our dynamic engineering development team, you will apply broad technical knowledge and skills for the management, design, development, analysis, verification, and release of digital subsystems. This individual is expected to draw upon ingenuity and engineering principles to help deliver leading-edge digital architectures into subsystems for air, land, and sea platforms. The Manager will be accountable for the work within the department.  Must be capable of evaluating trade-based studies on performance, schedule, cost, reliability, and manufacturability goals. This could include any combination of technical research, test, documentation, and presentation. The Manager works closely with other engineering disciplines and provides technical insight and leadership to ensure that digital designs achieve "best value" goals of meeting performance and life cycle requirements within allocated constraints. Principal responsibilities include:

Define and deploy the strategic vision for the Digital/Embedded SW group

Manage the department resources across a wide variety of programs and IR&D activities

Assure technical, cost, and schedule goals are met for each development effort

Provide technical input and support for digital and mixed signal opportunities; including capture strategy, work breakdown structures, architecture, and costing.

Drive the development & implementation of best practices for rapid development, verification, and release management

Provide engineering expertise and leadership to achieve high customer satisfaction and performance objectives

Manage talent, including recruitment, mentoring, training, and performance evaluation for proper resource availability and career progression

Work with cross-functional engineering resources to ensure teams meet the product, business, and time-to-market requirements defined by the company

Establish the budget for labor, capital, and maintenance for the group

Contribute to corporate technology roadmap definition and IRAD strategies

Proactively develop successors for organizational positions and work with team to ensure a robust talent pipeline and career development

Foster effective relationships at all levels, to enhance and support a culture of learning, empowerment, and collaboration

Qualifications:
Minimum:

Three (3)+ years’ experience as a Manager or technical leader of a large program

Eight (8)+ years’ experience with C and/or VHDL programming

Written VHDL/Verilog for state of the art FPGAs such as Altera (Quartus Prime IDE) or Xilinx (Vivado)

Experience designing for embedded hardware (e.g. FPGAs, micro-controllers, memory, ADCs, DSPs, etc.)

Familiar with common HW/SW interfaces/data protocols (e.g. TCPIP, UDP, RS-422, USB, PCI, CAN)

Successfully held responsibility for budget & schedule allocation/tracking of a team or multiple large projects

Experience integrating and troubleshooting software & hardware

Worked with measurement equipment such as digital or spectrum analyzers, scopes, etc.

This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)

Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Preferred:

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from a four-year college or university

Designed/developed hardware/firmware for multi-board/processor systems with both FPGAs and CPUs

Familiar with motion control & associated HW dynamics for high performance/accuracy

Familiarity with SoC implementations such as Nios or ARM, PSoC Creator environments

Familiar with MS Project, earned value, and resource allocation

Applied signal processing techniques with Analog to Digital (ADC) and DAC components

Experience writing digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for signal detection or classification

Experience interfacing with and parameters of RF components; switches, amps, attenuators, TDUs, etc.

Experience implementing control algorithms for motion tuning

Tracking of department key performance indicators/metrics

Ability to develop/derive requirements for software/firmware from higher-level system specifications

Worked in a Linux, RTOS, and Windows environment on embedded or application SW

Excellent leadership, organization and communication skills with the ability to maintain a positive and proactive approach to resolve conflict and/or business issues

Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments

Ability to influence others; persuasively present thoughts and ideas; gain commitment and ensure support for proposed ideas

Active DOD Secret Clearance

Salary Range: Manager Digital Engineering: $(phone number removed) - $(phone number removed) annually.  Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
