Lead Cemetery Maintenance Worker Job Description

Leads and assists in the work of a small crew in maintaining facilities and landscaped areas of the cemetery. Essential Functions

Lead and assist in the work of a small crew maintaining cemetery grounds; Assist Cemetery Foreman in planning work to be done, maintain time and work records; Lead and participate in locating, marking, and preparing gravesites for funeral, providing amenities, and closing gravesite; Lead and participate in maintenance of cemetery grounds, and maintenance and repair of irrigation system;Assist in inspecting cemetery grounds for necessary maintenance or repairs; Assist in employee selection, evaluation, and disciplinary actions; Supervise work crew in the absence of the Cemetery Foreman; Perform related duties as directed. Qualifications

Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional one to three years of experience in the maintenance of a cemetery; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following: Physical Exam Required Valid Current Commercial Driver's License Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of: Landscape and ground maintenance practices; Use of construction equipment for landscape maintenance and excavation. Ability to: Operate various pieces of grounds maintenance or construction equipment; Maintain accurate records; Understand maps and blueprints; Communicate effectively with others;Lead the work of others. Physical Requirements: Frequently stand and walk during the shift. Occasionally bend and kneel during the shift. Frequently lift up to 100 pounds. Occasionally carry up to 100 pounds. Frequently push and pull objects. Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees.Frequently rotate upper trunk to the left or right while sitting or standing. Place arms above, at, or below shoulder height. Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
