Position Purpose: To develop teacher's capacity for providing high-quality instruction to all students To design and implement a coherent and sustained schoolwide system of support and process for improvement of teacher capacity Professional Characteristics of an Academic Coach:

Deep knowledge of content, pedagogy, and professional learning Deep knowledge of regional, state, and national academic standards Competent with effective research-based instructional strategies Ability to work with all teachers and students Competent with technology Duties and Responsibilities of an Academic Coach:

Nurture a culture for collaboration that supports teacher learning and planning. Provide professional learning, ongoing demonstrations, and/or coaching for teachersin Effective teaching strategies and classroom management practices Project Based Learning Strategies Engage reluctant learners Differentiation of instruction that is effective in meeting the needs of each studentSupport the Teacher Keys Evaluation System Development of Standards Based Instruction, implementation, and assessment of instruction Best teaching practices to implement a standardization of instruction Coordinates and leads professional learning communities for effectively implementing the Georgia Standards of ExcellenceResearch effective practices and implement action research Use formative assessments, including student work samples, to informinstruction Interpret standardized and local student assessments in order to inform instruction Serve on School Leadership Team Keep and document a regular weekly schedule.Demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skill in the following:

Georgia Standards of Excellent, common benchmarks, curriculum alignment, CCRPI, and curriculum mapping as aligned to Georgia Milestones Assessments Data disaggregation and analysis Multiple measures of assessing student knowledge and growth Test-taking strategies Strategies to assist with increased academic achievement of at-risk students and engaging reluctant learners.

Qualifications:

Current GaPSC certificate in Elementary Education GaPSC coaching endorsement (preferred) minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience at the elementary school level

FLSA status: Exempt 200 day contract (10 additional days, no supplement) Placement on the DCS Salary Schedule based on verified years of experience and certification level
