Job Description

The Maintenance Technician installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains production and facility equipment within a manufacturing environment that focuses on plastics, resin, and foam. This role performs both preventative and routine maintenance on all equipment and support systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of machinery and infrastructure across the manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment to support continuous manufacturing operations.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, diagrams, and work orders to determine the appropriate maintenance and service procedures.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs on production machines and support systems.
  • Ensure routine calibration and maintenance of a variety of electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all conveyor systems, including both electrical and mechanical components.
  • Maintain electrical equipment such as electric motors, control boxes, welders, and PLCs, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.
  • Repair and troubleshoot mechanical, electric, and hydraulic motors, as well as related electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair or disposal using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, and hoists.
  • Measure, cut, and bend conduit such as rigid EMT, PVC, and IMC using appropriate hand tools and conduit benders.
  • Execute preventative maintenance on motors, gearboxes, conveyor systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Perform metal fabrication using aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel with TIG, MIG, and ARC welding equipment.
  • Use industrial tools and equipment such as extrusion machines, winders, glue machines, and tape machines safely and effectively.
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment to minimize downtime and support production goals.
  • Follow safety procedures and best practices while performing maintenance tasks, including working at heights, in confined spaces, and around moving equipment.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and industrial maintenance experience.
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience with strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills.
  • Experience working with plastics, including resin and foam processing equipment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to maintain and repair electrical equipment, including electric motors, control boxes, welders, and PLCs.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting conveyor systems, both electrical and mechanical.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial tools and equipment such as extrusion machines, winders, glue machines, and tape machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders.
  • Capability to perform preventative maintenance on motors, gearboxes, conveyor systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Physical ability to stand and bend for extended periods of time and occasionally stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, and balance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with resin and foam processing equipment in a plastics manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication using aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel with TIG, MIG, and ARC welding processes.
  • Experience measuring, cutting, and bending conduit such as rigid EMT, PVC, and IMC using hand tools and benders.
  • Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and their preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Comfort using lifting equipment such as chain falls, jacks, cranes, and hoists to dismantle or move machinery.
  • Exposure to HVAC systems within an industrial maintenance setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety while working around complex machinery and electrical systems.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces geonets, geocomposites, sub-surface drainage composites, sheet drains, and strip drains for residential and commercial applications. The environment involves working around extrusion lines, winders, glue machines, tape machines, conveyor systems, and a variety of electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and ammonia refrigeration systems. The position requires frequent standing and bending, with occasional stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing, often in a fast-paced setting. Maintenance Technicians may use hand tools, welders, conduit benders, chain falls, jacks, cranes, and hoists as part of daily tasks. Work is organized in rotating or fixed shifts covering Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as needed, on one of the following schedules: 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., or 11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
