Location: 4 Irving Place New York, NY 10003
Schedule: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote -Various projects are located throughout the five NY Boroughs and Westchester.
Hours:8am-4:45pm or 7am-3:45pm Some OT as job/schedule requires.
Pay Rate: /hr
Required Skills:
The candidate must be well versed in the National Electric Code, NYS & NYC Building Codes, and NFPA;
Must beable to perform breaker coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, cable/conduit size and lighting calculations and select electrical equipment.
Required Education/Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering 8 years of experience in areas of design, and application of engineering principles in assigned areas of expertise.
Flex Skills:
Preferred Education/Experience -Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering 6 years of experience in areas of design, and application of engineering principles in assigned areas of expertise.
Job Description:
The Senior Electrical Engineer, under general guidance, directs or performs specific engineering assignments of whatever size or complexity in his/her field of expertise. These tasks may require the coordination of efforts among architects, engineers, users and consultants. For these assignments the Senior Electrical Engineer establishes design criteria, is responsible for the correctness of drawings, may make or approve field design changes, and may represent the section or department to resolve and to plan and coordinate work. This position's objective is to have in-house mechanical engineering expertise to respond consistently and efficiently to normal, emergency and critical projects.
Core Responsibilities
Engineer and design projects to support the Capital and Operations & Maintenance budgets of Facilities which include the buildings and yards of various Service Centers and Commercial Buildings, as well as supporting projects associated with other customers of Steam Distribution, Substation Operations, Electrical Operations, Information Technology, and Transportation Operations.
Provide engineering support for various types of commercial building/yard electrical systems (e.g. specing/selection of low and medium voltage switchgear, emergency diesel generators, uninterruptible power supplies, etc.) The candidate must be well versed in the National Electric Code, NYS & NYC Building Codes, and NFPA; be able to perform breaker coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, cable/conduit size and lighting calculations and select electrical equipment. Review and approve contractor designs, calculations, shop drawings and submittals.
