About the Team The Connected Workflows team builds Samsara’s digital Connected Workflows platform, helping customers replace paper-based operational workflows with configurable, mobile-first Connected Workflows. Connected Workflows power critical work across safety, compliance, maintenance, operations, and field workflows, enabling drivers and frontline teams to collect structured data, trigger automations, and give back-office teams real-time visibility. This team works across the full stack, including the Samsara dashboard, mobile experiences, backend services, workflow automation, permissions, reporting, and integrations with broader Samsara platform systems. About the Role We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help shape and scale the Connected Workflows product. You will lead high-impact projects across product surfaces, backend systems, and platform integrations, while partnering closely with Product, Design, and cross-functional engineering teams. As a senior engineer, you’ll be expected to drive technical direction, break down ambiguous product problems, mentor other engineers, and deliver reliable systems that support mission-critical customer workflows. Connected Workflows is a key part of how Samsara customers digitize and automate their operations. The work on this team directly affects frontline teams completing critical workflows every day, and back-office teams relying onaccurate, timely data to make decisions. A senior engineer on Connected Workflows will have meaningful influence over both the product experience and the technical foundation that supports future growth. This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US. In this role, you will: Design and build end-to-end Connected Workflows features across web, mobile, backend services, and platform integrations. Lead technical projects from discovery through rollout, including architecture, implementation, testing, observability, andlaunch. Improve the scalability, reliability, and extensibility of the Connected Workflows platform as usage grows across customers and product areas. Partner with Product and Design to turn customer needs into simple, powerful workflows for field and operations teams. Raise engineering quality through thoughtful code reviews, testing strategy, operational excellence, and mentorship. Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices. Minimum requirements for the role: 5 years of professional software engineering experience. Strong experience building production web applications and backend services. Proficiency in at least one backend language (Go, Java, C#, or equivalent).Ability to lead complex, ambiguous projects across multiple systems and stakeholders. Strong product judgment and a customer-focused approach to engineering tradeoffs. Experience designing APIs, data models, permissions, and scalable service boundaries. Comfort mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction without relying on authority. Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with Product, Design, and cross-functional partners. An ideal candidate also has: Experience with React, TypeScript, Go, GraphQL, or mobile-backed product workflows. Experience building configurable platforms, workflow builders, connected workflows,automations, or low-code/no-code tools. Experience with operational products used by frontline workers. Experience improving reliability, observability, and performance of customer-facing systems.
