Description Salary Range: $45,796.40 - $68,694.60 Works under the direction of the Senior Manager and/or the Public Services Supervisor to provide information services and assistance in the use of library resources and facilities to the public. Maintains and assists in developing collections. Supports training and collection development and coordinates specialized projects and collections or programs. Supports the library’s policies, procedures, and goals by providing professional library services. Provides information services, reader’s advisory and assistance to the public in the use of library services and facilities. Supports and assists in departmental and/or system-wide training of staff, volunteers, and the public. Maintains awareness of current adult and young adult services, activities, and programs. Oversees, coordinates, and serves as resource person for the development and maintenance of special projects, services, and programs for the department and/or system. Participates in developing the library agency’s goals and objectives. Pushes fully loaded carts and shelves books, as needed. Responsibilities OTHER FUNCTIONS : Participates in collection development by maintaining, developing, and serving as a resource person Participates in library and community committees and meetings as assigned. Functions as staff member in charge of department as needed. Provides basic circulation services as needed. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Must be able tooperate personal computer and all basic office equipment. Requires stooping, bending, stretching, pushing cartloads of books up to 40 lbs and lifting up to 25 lbs of books. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS : Works in a temperature controlled public building. Occasional travel within Shelby County and United States. Work schedule may include nights and weekends. Qualifications Masters degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school; or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university and one (1) year of related professional library experience; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience which enables one to perform the essential duties of the job.
