Apache Junction Unified School District is seeking a skilled, student-centered School Psychologist who believes deeply in our Kids First mission. SUMMARY
The School Psychologist enables students to derive maximum educational benefit from school by supporting their social-emotional development, promoting positive self-concept, and addressing educational and psychological needs.
WHAT YOU'LL LEAD&SUPPORT Champion AJUSD's Kids First mission through every decision and interaction. Assess the psychological and educational needs of students, including:
Collecting medical, developmental, and educational histories Selecting, administering, and interpreting assessments Writing comprehensive evaluation reports Participating in multidisciplinary conferences with parents and school personnel
Arrange and monitor out-of-district placements for exceptional students when appropriate. Maintain confidentiality and implement District policies and guidelines related to special education. Represent the District at State Department of Education meetings related to psychological services and exceptional student support.Provide consultation services to school personnel, families, and community members. Provide short-term counseling to students and parents regarding learning, behavior, and social-emotional adjustment. Participate in the evaluation of special education teachers, speech and occupational therapists, and paraprofessionals.Participate in extracurricular assignments as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the District or school site. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in School Psychology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience Arizona Psychologist or Teaching Certification Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS&ABILITIES
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to read and interpret educational journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations; write reports, correspondence, and procedural documents; and present information effectively to parents, staff, students, and community members. They must be able to calculate mathematical concepts such as proportions, percentages, and basic algebra and geometry.Candidates must also be able to solve practical problems involving a variety of variables and interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 25 pounds, and moving throughout the school campus. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain, as well as humidity or dusty conditions. Noise levels are typically moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
