We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Electrical Engineering Manager to lead and inspire our electrical engineering team. This role is focused on fostering a positive, high performance team culture while ensuring successful project execution.
The Electrical Engineering Manager will be responsible for guiding and developing engineers at all levels, empowering them to reach their full potential. You will play a critical role in shaping the team's growth, collaborating across departments, and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in people management, coaching, and team development, with the ability to align the team's efforts with company goals and values.
Lead and conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with direct reports, fostering trust and engagement through timely feedback and coaching.
Provide guidance that supports both the employee's personal growth and company goals.
Create a collaborative team culture that emphasizes continuous improvement, accountability, and learning.
Oversee electrical engineering projects from design through to commissioning, ensuring seamless execution and high-quality results.
Manage hiring, performance evaluations, and resource allocation within the engineering team.
Work cross-functionally with other engineering disciplines, project management, and external stakeholders to ensure the success of projects.
Develop and maintain department processes to align with industry standards and ensure high quality deliverables.
Implement initiatives to enhance team efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall quality.
Support project budgeting, scheduling, and scope management to meet client expectations.
Provide high-level guidance on system architecture, design reviews, and tool adoption, empowering engineers to make informed decisions.
Provide oversight and technical support during the field commission, startup, and maintenance of electrical systems.
Establish and maintain departmental procedures and processes to align with company goals
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program required.
Master’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program preferred.
14 to 19 years of electrical controls experience with a bachelor’s degree or 12 to 17 years of electrical controls experience with a Master's degree.
Proven experience in managing electrical engineering teams and leading large-scale projects, with a focus on people management and development.
Strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineers at all levels.
Experience in conducting performance appraisals, identifying skills gaps, and creating individualized development plans to grow team members' technical and leadership capabilities.
Ability to drive a positive team culture that fosters collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
Proven experience in leading teams through cross-functional collaboration, ensuring alignment with company objectives and successful project delivery
Demonstrated experience in monitoring team health and morale, using one-on-ones to proactively address burnout and engagement issues.
Skilled in building high-performance teams through strategic hiring, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
Experience in advocating for team needs and priorities with senior leadership, balancing resource requests, technical objectives, and organizational changes.
Proven track record in developing succession plans and talent pipelines to ensure continuity and resilience in critical roles.
Experience with advanced project management tools and scheduling for large, complex projects.
Strong understanding of team dynamics, with the ability to remove blockers and ensure smooth communication across departments.
