Nursing Assistant - Medical Surgical Unit, Minneapolis

Allied Health Professional
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide direct patient care including bathing, grooming, feeding, and mobility assistance
Measure and record vital signs, intake/output, and report changes in condition
Assist with transfers, ambulation, and use of mobility devices following safety protocols
Support nursing staff with wound care, specimen collection, and basic procedures
Maintain patient comfort, safety, and emotional support throughout care activities
Monitor and restock supplies, maintain unit cleanliness, and ensure equipment readiness
Document care provided using approved electronic health record systems
Assist with patient admission, discharge, and transport processes
Observe and report patient behavior, pain levels, and responses to interventions
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to meet individualized care plans
Work Schedule: Part-time,.7
FTE or 28 hours per week; Day/Night rotation including rotating holidays and weekends

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
