We serve more than 22,000 students in more than 30 schools and span six municipalities, covering more than 220 square miles. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are seeking a Learning Innovation Coordinator who can lead districtwide work connected to artificial intelligence, instructional innovation, digital learning systems, supplemental instructional resources, and technology-enabled process improvement. This position will help the district move from isolated tool use to intentional, measurable, and sustainable innovation aligned to district priorities. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success supporting adult learning, leading technology implementation, analyzing system usage, improving workflows, and helping educators and leaders use digital tools in practical ways that improve instruction and operations. The coordinator will support AI policy development and implementation, help establish clear guardrails for responsible use, and assist campuses and departments with understanding how AI can be used safely, ethically, and effectively. This role requires strong systems thinking, project coordination, communication, and follow-through. The coordinator must be able to work across departments, translate technical concepts into clear guidance, evaluate the impact of instructional technology resources, and recommend whether systems should be continued, adjusted, expanded, or discontinued based on usage and impact data. You must possess the urgency, judgment, and organizational skill needed to lead innovation work responsibly while supporting staff, protecting student data, and ensuring that technology decisions are aligned to instructional value and district need. QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Master’s degree in educational technology, curriculum and instruction, instructional design, leadership, information systems, or a related field preferred. Valid Texas educator certification preferred. Experience: Three years of successful experience in instructional technology, educational technology, digital learning, systems implementation, campus leadership, or a closely related field preferred. Experience designing and delivering professional learning for adult learners preferred. Special Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of responsible AI use, AI policy implementation, data privacy, digital citizenship, accessibility, instructional systems, and ethical use of technology. Ability to monitor and analyze usage of instructional systems and supplemental resources to evaluate implementation, impact, return on investment, and continued need. Ability to lead projects, document processes, coordinate timelines, communicate clearly, and support staff adoption of new tools and workflows. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Executive Leadership Support district leadership in developing and implementing a clear vision for responsible innovation, artificial intelligence, instructional technology use, and systems improvement across a variety of Divisions Assist with the development, communication, implementation, and review of AI policy, AI guardrails, approved-use expectations, and staff-facing guidance. Prepare updates, recommendations, summaries, and implementation plans for district leadership related to AI, innovation, instructional systems, and emerging technology. Lead instructional and educational technology work with educators, families, and stakeholders to ensure that there is an established vision and pathwayto achieve District goals and Strategic Plan priorities in relationship to the improvement of student outcomes System Leadership: Lead or support districtwide innovation projects, pilots, and technology-enabled workflow improvements from planning through implementation and review. Monitor usage of instructional systems and supplemental digital resources to determine adoption, instructional impact, duplication, and whether resources should be continued, adjusted, expanded, or discontinued. Collaborate with Software Development, Data Quality, Instructional Technology, Network and Systems, academics, campuses, and departments to translate needs into clear requirements and practical solutions. Professional Learning Community (PLC’s) Design and deliver professional learning related to AI, digital productivity, instructional innovation, responsible technology use, and effective implementation of approved systems. Support campuses and departments in using technology to strengthen collaboration, improve access to information, and reduce inefficient manual processes. Create job aids, quick guides, templates, videos, workflows, and other staff-facing resources that support consistent implementation. Effective Feedback Collect stakeholder feedback, usage data, and implementation evidence to evaluate the effectiveness of innovation efforts and instructional technology resources. Provide clear recommendations to improve adoption, training, workflows, and system use based on evidence anddistrict priorities. Use feedback cycles to determine whether pilots and resources should be scaled, revised, paused, or discontinued. Culture&Climate Model ethical, secure, responsible, and productive use of artificial intelligence and emerging technology. Promote a culture of responsible innovation that supports high-quality instruction, operational efficiency, transparency, and continuous improvement. Build trust with campus and department staff by providing practical support, clear communication, and timely follow-through. Personnel Management Coordinate cross-functional workgroups, focus groups, training cohorts, and pilot teams as assigned. Provide guidance and support to staff participating in innovation, AI, or system implementation projects. School or Community Relations Collaborate with campus and district leaders to communicate innovation initiatives, AI expectations, and instructional technology guidance clearly and consistently. Support staff, campus leaders, and departments in understanding appropriate AI and technology use within district expectations. Represent the Technology Department in meetings, committees, trainings, and district initiatives as assigned. Management of Fiscal, Administrative, and Facilities Functions Assist with reviewing instructional technology systems, supplemental resources, and innovation tools for usage, value, privacy, security, sustainability, and alignment to district need. Support decision-making regarding continuation, renewal, consolidation, or discontinuation of digital resources based on implementation evidence and impact. Maintain documentation of projects, workflows, procedures, pilot results, and recommendations to support sustainability and institutional knowledge. Supervisory Responsibilities None at this time. The position may coordinate project teams, workgroups, committees, and implementation activities and has potential to evolve into direct supervisory responsibilities over time. WORKING CONDITIONS Physical Demands Typical demands of a school environment, including extensive computer use and district-wide travel for meetings and events. Lifting and carrying of books, boxes, and audiovisual equipment, light (15-20 pounds), climbing, stretching, visual acuity, walking, pulling, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, reaching, pushing, sitting, kneeling, standing, and twisting, may be required to control behavior through physical restraint. Work Environment Frequent districtwide travel to campuses and departments. Regular interaction with staff, administrators, vendors, and district leadership. Work may involve multiple projects, deadlines, and changing priorities. Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, manage multiple priorities, interpret policies and procedures, exercise sound judgment, and work under pressure with frequent interruptions. POSITION WORKING DAYS 226 Days COMPENSATION Based on the district compensation plan.
