JOB PURPOSE The Host and Hostess is responsible for seating members and guests in the dining room. Handles member service situations as they arise. RESPONSIBILITIES Promptly and warmly greets and directs members and guests to their tables based on availability or desired seating arrangements. Helps create an overall enjoyable dining experience and promotes a safe, clean and neat environment for members and guests. Exhibits exceptional communication skills. Gets along well with others, demonstrates flexibility and patience;possesses an interest in people. Maintains a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information that is shared. Supervises the activities of food-service associates in the dining room to ensure proper customer service, food handling and sanitation procedures arefollowed Helps train new food-service team members Supervises the closing of the assigned dining room; ensures side work and station setup is properly completed Demonstrates knowledge of emergency safety procedures and helps evacuate members and guests to safety in the event of fire or other emergency Assists with service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards May be asked to operate equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, telephones, ice tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines. Attends scheduled staff meetings Other duties as assigned REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 2 years experience in restaurants Excellent communication and organizational skills Stable and progressive work history; Strong work ethic Flexible schedule, must be able to work Holidays, Weekends, Evenings Physical Demands and Work Environment: Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach Push, pull or lift up to 30 pounds Continuous repetitive motions Work in hot, humid and noisy environment Licenses and Special Requirements Foodhandler certification About our offer Compensation: $20.00 per hour House Service Charge Distribution Plan This is a part time, hourly non-exempt position that is eligible for overtime Must be available for different types of shifts including nights, weekends, and Holidays Benefits Sick Time and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Lunches provided 6 days a week Our golf course is open for staff to enjoy on Monday’s Location Palo Alto Hills Golf&Country Club 3000 Alexis Drive Palo Alto, CA 94304 We look forward to having you join our Team!
