Spine, Joint and Pain Medical Receptionist
To provide clerical support in the Podiatry, Spine, Joint and Pain department, adhere to all policies and procedures of MMC, and meet the needs of patients in a teamwork approach. Working Conditions - Work is performed in an office setting and involves frequent telephone contact, as well as face-to-face communication with patients. Interactions with others in constant and interruptive. There is possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to medical practice. Varied activities including walking, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), stooping, assisting patients and sitting for extended periods of time may occur. Also, occasional stress from multiple responsibilities.Job Responsibilities - Represent MMC in a courteous and professional mannerGreet guests and incoming calls in a polite, prompt, and helpful mannerTake accurate messages which include all required informationProcess voicemails and faxesBe at your workstation on time and prepared to start the dayEmail communication is utilized in this department for important messages and updates. Staff members are expected to read emails frequently.Accurately input diagnostic testing into EMR as directed by providersCollect co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance, co-other patient responsible balances, when necessaryManage Front Desk Task list dailyCorrectly process payments and receiptsPrepare daily deposit and maintain cash bag/Phreesia balanceBe flexible when asked to stay past your scheduled work time (as needed) to accommodate the needs of patientsPrepare and process fee tickets, patient forms, referrals, etc. for patient appointments and any other requests indicated on the fee ticketSchedule appointments to include detailed informationSend all necessary paperwork to new patientsManchester Only: Uses computer system to generate information necessary for billing.Assist answering incoming phone calls and Doctor's lineCorrectly file fee tickets, stock copier, stock appointment cards, doctor cards, and other items needed dailyProvide prompt, efficient, and accurate patient serviceMeet or exceed patient, doctor, and staff expectations through a cooperative, teamwork approachComplete all Healthstream assignments on timeKeep your work area and the clinic cleanBe knowledgeable of and adhere to all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all MMC policies and procedures.With instruction, perform other duties as required or assignedRequired Skills - Excellent customer service skillsStrong skills in communicating effectively with co-workers, providers, and patientsAbility to conduct daily functions in an appropriate, professional, and compassionate mannerAbility to manage/prioritize multiple tasks in an efficient and timely mannerTeamwork attitudeFlexibility to respond to changing demandsAbility to react calmly and competently in stressful situationsEffectively utilize computer systems and programs that are necessary to complete daily tasksEducation/Experience Requirements - -High School diploma or GED-Experience preferred but not required MMC Vision, Mission, and Values - Our visionis to be a leading contributor to community health through participation in programs that promote wellness, facilitate diagnosis, and enhance treatment of disease.Our missionis to foster continuous improvement in community health through the delivery of quality, accessible medical and surgical care in a cost-effective manner to the residents of Middle Tennessee.Our valuesguide our actions as we strive to carry out our mission.Aprogressiveapproach to advances in medicine and changes in the health care delivery systemResponsiveto patient and community needsCollaborativewith other physicians, hospitals, allied health providers and the community in improving health careProfessional, ethicalandsocially responsibleTeam-orientedmanagement and leadershipApositive, openandresponsivework setting
