Building Facility Foreman

performs skilled maintenance, repair, and provides operational support to ensure safe, functional, and well-maintained state facilities across campus. This position works under the direction of the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor and collaborates with both the maintenance and landscape crews while supporting operations across three state facilities. This position is responsible for preventative maintenance activities, responding to work orders, troubleshooting facility issues, and supporting the overall mission of the Idaho Department of Health&Welfare. May require some flexibility in scheduling to support operational needs, emergencies, or after-hours situations.

Perform skilled maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance on building systems, equipment, and facility infrastructure. Complete assigned work orders and respond to maintenance needs across three DSCF campus facilities. Assist in maintaining safe, functional, and code-compliant facilities in accordance with state policies and applicable regulations.Support facility operations through troubleshooting, inspections, and repair of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building systems. Collaborate with maintenance and landscape crews to complete campus projects and operational tasks. Maintain records of completed work, preventative maintenance activities, and inspections.Operate tools, equipment, and machinery safely while following established safety procedures. Assist with emergency response, seasonal maintenance activities, and other operational support needs as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position.

Good knowledge of building codes.

Typically gained by completing a seminar or formal training in building code content and interpretation; OR by at least six months of experience in a position where code interpretation was an integral portion of your role. Some knowledge of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) related work . Typically gained by least six months of paid work experience maintaining and/or repairing HVAC systems in a commercial environment.Some knowledge of supervisory practices.

Typically gained by a class or seminar (more than one day), specifically covering supervisory practices OR leadwork experience that required work direction, monitoring work, and making work assignments (such experience on a fill-in basis is not qualifying unless for a period of approximately three months or more), OR one year of leadwork experience with input into hiring and input into preparing performance evaluations and input into discipline OR courses or seminars that included all four elements of management (planning, organizing, leadership and controlling), OR one year of experience as a full-time supervisor with responsibility for hiring (or input into hiring), training, assigning work, disciplining, and performance evaluations.Experience performing skilled repair and maintenance in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, building maintenance, and grounds related work as well as experience

using specialized tools and equipment associated with trades indicated. Typically gained by at least six months of experience performing skilled repair and maintenance in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, building maintenance, and grounds related work. Considerable knowledge of building maintenance including experience maintaining maintenance records and preparing related reports.

Typically gained by at least one year of experience and training in commercial building maintenance, equipment technologies, and operating techniques. Experience estimating material needs and costs for jobs and reading blueprints and specifications.

Typically gained by less than three months work experience reading blueprints and estimating material needs and costs, OR at least six months of work experience reading blueprints and estimating material needs and costs, OR at least one year of experience performing material take-off for planning and estimating materials and costs of construction, electrical work, or plumbing, OR at least one year of supervisory experience recommending bids for commercial construction activities.
