Mechanical Engineer, Sonoma

Talisman has partnered with a fast-growing technology company, as they go-to-market for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work on advanced systems deployed in demanding outdoor environments.
This is a hands-on, field-intensive role at the intersection of mechanical engineering, robotics, and real-world deployment.
Based in Sacramento with regular travel across California.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and test mechanical systems and components from concept through to field deployment.
Conduct structural, thermal, kinematic, and mechanical analyses to validate performance under real-world outdoor conditions.
Collaborate across electrical, controls, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration.
Participate in fieldwork, live system testing, troubleshooting, and data collection.
Manage CAD models, drawings, and engineering documentation to manufacturing readiness.
Work with vendors, fabricators, and contract manufacturers on prototypes, sourcing, and production.
Requirements
BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
5+ years of hands-on experience with dynamic, electromechanical, or automated systems.
Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
Proven ability to take designs from concept through to field deployment.
Comfort working in outdoor, field, and test-site environments.
Authorization to work in the United States.
