Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Design Project Manager to work as a member of our Hamden, CT team on projects including transportation; land development; urban infill and redevelopment; municipal infrastructure and community projects; green infrastructure; renewable energy; educational facilities; climate resiliency; and more.
Under the general direction of our New England Region Manager, you will lead an outstanding staff while you plan, direct, and coordinate activities related to multiple transportation, site/civil, and infrastructure projects. You will take the lead during proposal development, design, permitting, and construction administration for an array of transportation, site development, infrastructure, and community projects; mentor and train less experienced engineers; prepare permit applications and meet with permitting agencies; present at public hearings; and manage project design teams. You will support business development and staff recruitment activities and maintain positive client relationships. In this role, you will also be responsible for client and internal communications and maintaining the high standards of work we produce through the Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution (Master’s degree preferred)
Active Connecticut Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in civil and transportation engineering design, with a strong portfolio of successful infrastructure projects
Proven leadership experience, including:At least 5 years of project management
5+ years of team leadership, mentoring, or supervisory responsibilities
Demonstrated ability to mentor, develop, and retain top engineering talent
Experience in building and scaling high-performing design teams
Deep knowledge of local and state permitting processes in Connecticut
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and HydroCAD; familiarity with other design and modeling tools is a plus
Strong understanding of project lifecycle management, budgeting, and client coordination
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to clients, stakeholders, and team members
