Operating Room (OR) Scheduler

Location: University Hospital/Medical Center

The Operating Room (OR) Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures in a fast-paced university hospital environment. This role ensures efficient use of operating room resources, maintains accurate scheduling records, and serves as a key liaison between surgeons, clinical staff, and support departments to facilitate seamless surgical operations.

  • Schedule surgical procedures across multiple specialties in accordance with surgeon availability, patient needs, and operating room capacity
  • Coordinate with surgeons’ offices, anesthesia, nursing staff, and other departments to ensure complete and accurate scheduling information
  • Verify patient demographics, procedure details, and required documentation in the scheduling system
  • Ensure proper allocation of operating rooms, equipment, and staffing resources
  • Communicate schedule updates, changes, and cancellations in a timely manner
  • Monitor daily OR schedules and make adjustments as needed to optimize efficiency
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and patient confidentiality requirements
  • Assist with reporting, data tracking, and performance metrics related to OR utilization
Qualifications
  • Experience in an operating room or surgical coordination setting required
  • Familiarity with hospital workflows in a university or academic medical center
  • Ability to problem-solve and prioritize competing demands
Work Environment
  • Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm

This is a Contract position based out of New Haven, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.74 - $27.74/hr.
