Position Overview
The Boutique Assistant Director is a senior leadership role responsible for supporting boutique performance, client development, and operational excellence in one of the worlds most competitive luxury retail markets.
Serving as the second-in-command to the Boutique Director, this individual helps lead the team, drive business results, and uphold the standards of the Maison.
This role is ideal for a polished luxury retail leader with a strong record of working with high-net-worth and international clientele, developing long-term relationships, and leading in a high-touch environment.
The ideal candidate combines commercial strength, operational discipline, and strong personal presence.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with the Boutique Director to execute the boutiques commercial strategy, service standards, and business goals
Drive sales performance through floor leadership, team coaching, and client development
Build and maintain strong relationships with high-value clients, including collectors, international clientele, and VIP customers
Lead private appointments, bespoke selling opportunities, and exclusive client events
Use CRM tools strategically to support retention, re-engagement, and long-term client growth
Support daily boutique operations, including opening and closing oversight, merchandising standards, and service execution
Partner with the leadership team to maintain accuracy and discipline across inventory, stock handling, and operational procedures
Coach and develop Client Advisors and senior team members to strengthen performance and accountability
Step in for the Boutique Director when needed to ensure continuity in leadership and execution
Maintain strong product knowledge, brand storytelling, and awareness of the New York luxury market
Represent Abel Richard with professionalism, discretion, and credibility in all client and team interactions
Required Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of experience in high-luxury or ultra-luxury retail
Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a boutique, flagship, or other high-touch luxury environment
Proven success serving high-net-worth and international clientele
Demonstrated ability to drive sales through clienteling, repeat business, and relationship development
Experience leading a team in a service-focused environment with high standards for presentation and execution
Strong commercial judgment and operational awareness
Excellent communication, follow-up, and interpersonal skills
Strong professional presence, discretion, and emotional intelligence
Experience with CRM tools, client outreach strategy, and luxury event support
Availability to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends, evenings, and peak business periods
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in luxury handbags, fine accessories, fine jewelry, watches, or other true luxury categories
Experience supporting top-tier clientele in New York City or another major luxury market
Multilingual fluency, especially Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic
Experience with private clients, bespoke services, or appointment-based selling
Prior experience as an Assistant Director, Senior Manager, Floor Manager, or equivalent senior boutique leadership role
