Adjunct/Part Time Faculty (Fixed Term)
Compensation: $700.00 Per Credit Hour Compensation Type: Exempt Employment Type: Adjunct/Part Time Faculty (Fixed Term) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 19 Grade: Instruction Position Summary This position is responsible for instructing students in required academic courses necessary for the pursuit of certificates and associates degrees in the area of humanities. The incumbent in this role will be required to complete all required and necessary assessment reports related to the course(s) taught at the request of the college/Academic Director as it relates to accreditation and assessment.Duties&Responsibilities Essential Job Functions Prepares and presents course descriptions, lesson plans, and classroom lectures, and implements techniques to facilitate student-active learning. Prepares and grades assignments, tests and quizzes; develops handouts and other learning aids. Participates in program and curriculum development and outcome assessments.Provides one-to-one student supervision and/or counseling, advising and tutoring. Analyzes and documents student progress; coordinates and schedules student tutors as appropriate. Provides necessary assessment and accreditation reporting as identified by the college and/or the Academic Director at the end of each teaching semester.Provides support to the department related to program review and end of year reports related to assessment and accreditation reporting. Provides a positive classroom environment conducive to a positive student learning environment. Participates in student recruitment, retention and placement efforts.Performs other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities At least 18 credit hours at the graduate level in the subject matter teaching area. Knowledge of adult-learning theory, curriculum development and classroom, laboratory, and field presentation techniques Knowledge of counseling and advising methods and techniques Knowledge of research methodology and information resources related to designated field(s) of studyBasic supervisory and coaching principles and practices Proficient in operating equipment and performing work related to designated field(s) of study Ability to deliver courses in-person and online platforms as needed and identified by the college. Ability to prepare and present classroom lectures and class workProficient in the use of standard office equipment and applications including Microsoft Suites and other platforms used by the college. Work Environment and Physical Factors Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions Education, Experience and LicensesMaster's Degree in a field directly related to Humanities (Philosophy, Anthropology, Spanish) courses being taught is required. Three years of teaching/instruction experience in the designated field is preferred.
