Recreation Contract Class Instructor

The City of Artesia is seeking experienced and reliable Class Instructors to lead engaging, wellness-focused programs for residents. Instructors will deliver structured classes that promote community connection, personal growth, and overall well-being. Program focus areas include after school programs&day camps, dance, ballet, and cheer, youth and adult sports, teen services, senior services, pickleball and tennis, skateboarding, pet-related classes and activities, language classes or cultural enrichment, and interactive skill-building classes that encourage social connection. Classes are offered in seasonal or annual sessions lasting 6–10 weeks, meeting 2–5 days per week for 2–3 hours per day, not meeting on city holidays, with schedules and offerings subject to change based on community needs.Responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging, interactive classes, providing a structured weekly curriculum or schedule, fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment for participants, maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality, adapting instruction to meet participant needs and abilities, and being dependable, organized, and prepared to commit to the full session.Minimum qualifications include being 18 years of age or older, submitting a completed class proposal application, successfully completing a Live Scan background check, completing a Class Instructor Agreement Contract, holding valid CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications, and having a valid Mandated Reporter certification.For more information, contact Joshua Acevedo at or (562) 860-3361.
