We are seeking committed and passionate expanded learning instructors to change the future of students by leading academic, physical, and enrichment activities as part of our West Oakland Middle School expanded learning program. As a program instructor, you will lead and mentor up to 25 youth in an expanded learning setting. Be part of an innovative and creative team that impacts the community, makes the world a better place, and provides equity in education.
Benefits
Pay rate: $26 per hour DOE
24 hours per week

Minimum Requirements
Must have an (a) Associate Degree or higher, or (b) 48 or more college units, or (c) High School Diploma or GED and pass Instructional Aide exam
Must pass criminal background check and TB test clearance
Ability to reliably commute to Oakland, CA
Commitment to education equity and leadership
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Start date is for next school year starting in August
Preferred:
Ability to redirect and review expectations and rules with large groups of students with various development levels
Previous experience coaching at the middle school or youth level
Foster a positive and inclusive sports culture that prioritizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and individual growth, creating an environment where every student can have fun.
Punctuality, responsibility, and professionalism are a priority.
Commitment to a full school year
Ability to practice open, clear, and consistent communication and commitment to participate in professional development.
Responsibilities
Support and maintain the emotional well-being of the students.
Provide a safe environment
Be a positive role model for struggling students
Have fun engaging students in lesson plans that support school day learning
Run community circles based on restorative practices
Ability to collaborate with youth to support their learning and development (youth-driven curriculum)
