Job Description Authorization Coordinator II

Location: Berkeley, CA

Schedule: Onsite

Shift: Day Shift | Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Position Summary

This role supports oncology outpatient operations by ensuring accurate medical registration, insurance verification, coordination of benefits, and timely prior authorization processing within EPIC. The coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining continuity of care, meeting turnaround standards, and preventing revenue cycle disruptions in a fast paced oncology setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform oncology outpatient medical registration and patient access support

• Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coordination of benefits

• Identify authorization requirements prior to scheduled services

• Submit, track, and follow up on prior authorization requests

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EPIC)

• Collaborate with clinical teams, patients, and payers to resolve authorization issues

• Support revenue cycle workflows by minimizing delays and preventing claim denials

• Manage high volume workloads while consistently meeting turnaround time standards

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in medical registration, specifically within oncology outpatient settings

• Hands on experience as a registrar using EPIC

• Strong background in insurance verification, eligibility, and coordination of benefits

• Experience submitting and following up on prior authorizations

• Knowledge of revenue cycle processes in a patient facing healthcare environment

• Excellent attention to detail with accurate EMR documentation skills

• Ability to manage high volumes of work while meeting strict deadlines

• Experience working in a comprehensive cancer center or oncology specialty clinic

• Prior experience in a hospital based outpatient setting

• Familiarity with Patient Access workflows and scheduling processes

• Understanding of revenue cycle compliance and denial prevention strategies

Pay Details:

$24.00 to $25.00 per hour
