Job Title: Compressor Technician Job Description The Compressor Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs natural gas compressors and associated equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation across field locations in the Permian Basin. This role works primarily in the field, performing new installations, routine preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs on compressor systems and related equipment in areas such as Carlsbad, Artesia, Hobbs, and Pecos, TX.Responsibilities Assemble, install, and commission natural gas compressors and related equipment at field sites. Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and manuals to ensure proper system setup and configuration. Perform alignment, calibration, and functional testing of compressor systems to verify correct operation.Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on compressors and associated equipment. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues affecting compressor performance. Replace worn or damaged parts, lubricate equipment, and adjust system settings to maintain optimal performance.Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify root causes of equipment failures. Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions, alarms, and field emergencies to minimize downtime. Repair or replace defective components and verify proper operation after repairs. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment performance.Follow safety standards and procedures while working in field environments and industrial sites. Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with other field personnel to coordinate work. Travel to remote compressor stations and field locations as required by operational needs. Participate in rotational shifts and on-call coverage to support 24/7 field operations.Essential Skills Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills related to compressors and rotating equipment. Experience working with natural gas compressors and pipeline-related systems, or a strong willingness to learn. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment used in mechanical and electrical work. Troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and basic instrumentation issues. Attention to detail and precision in performing installation, maintenance, and repair tasks. Strong communication and teamwork abilities to work effectively with field crews and support staff.Ability to work independently in field environments with minimal supervision. Commitment to safety and adherence to relevant safety standards and procedures. Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA, EPA, and industry-specific regulations. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites and remote compressor stations.Ability to work rotational shifts and participate in on-call duties as scheduled. Additional Skills&Qualifications Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) experience. Experience working with blueprint reading and interpretation in industrial or energy environments. Back ground in electrical and mechanical systems related to compressors or industrial equipment. Comfort working in field-based roles with exposure to outdoor and industrial conditions.Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods. Willingness to work day shifts, rotational schedules, and respond to on-call assignments once per month. The role requires participation in an on-call rotation approximately once per month, with team members sharing on-call responsibilities.
