Our VDC Field Layout Technicians help bridge the gap between technology and construction by turning digital models and coordinated drawings into real-world layout points.
This role is a great fit for someone with a basic foundation in construction layout, electrical systems, BIM/VDC, or field technology who wants to continue growing their skills in a hands-on environment. You do not need to be an expert - we're looking for someone who understands the basics, pays attention to detail, and is eager to learn.
Pay:
$20 - $25/hr
Schedule:
Full-Time | Monday - Friday | 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM | On-Site What We Offer

Assist with operating Trimble Robotic Total Station (RTS) equipment to perform field layout Use Trimble FieldLink software to support layout activities and import layout points Read and interpret construction drawings, BIM models, and coordinated plan sets Help translate digital models into accurate field layout pointsSupport layout and installation of electrical systems including:
Cable trays Duct banks Generators Lighting and light poles Switchgear and transformers Under-slab conduit
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field crews Assist with field verification and as-built documentation Help ensure installations are completed accurately and according to plan What You Bring Required Qualifications Basic experience with a Robotic Total Station (RTS) equipment and/or Trimble FieldLink softwareWorking knowledge of construction drawings, BIM models, and coordinated plan sets Basic understanding of electrical systems and field installation practices Ability to interpret blueprints and coordination drawings Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Strong attention to detail and willingness to learnComfortable working on active construction sites Basic computer and technology skills Strong communication and teamwork skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in electrical construction, VDC/BIM, construction layout, surveying, or a related field Familiarity with BIM/VDC workflows or prefabrication processesOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred What the Job Feels Like A mix of technology and hands-on field work Fast-paced construction environments where no two days are exactly the same Problem-solving in real time Working closely with both office and field teams Helping improve project accuracy, efficiency, and qualityWhy Winward Electric?
