Contract Duration: 6+ Months
Location: Stillwater, OK

Job Summary:
Successful mechanical engineering design is a key component of developing new products for Chemical, Biological, and Nuclear detection/identification.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key role on project teams to perform product design and testing of integrated detection/identification related products on a DoD reconnaissance vehicle, providing increased situational awareness and detection for battlefield hazard visualization.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for various aspects of the product design to meet various commercial and military standards.
The Mechanical Design Engineer should be comfortable with rapidly prototyping and testing concepts.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will work in a multi-disciplinary and geographically dispersed project team, including engineers from other disciplines and scientists/chemists.
Possible examples of designs include development of Client vehicle integrated sensor/detector mounting, storage, and deployment solutions, operator HMI mechanical solutions, stepper motor and other electromechanical positional controls, drone and other unmanned vehicle integration.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Engineer may be responsible for any/all stages in the engineering lifecycle: requirements gathering, concept development, design, analysis, prototyping, testing, production release, maintenance, and support.
Design innovative products and systems to interface with machines, hardware, and software.
Identify, specify mechanical and electro-mechanical components when required.
Evaluate designs using engineering principles and analysis techniques.
Rapid prototyping.
Hands-on assembly of electro-mechanical components and systems.
Component and system-level testing.
Submit Engineering Change Orders.
Create technical drawings and/or interfaces with drafter/designers to ensure design intent.
Interface with suppliers during product development to expedite and coordinate part deliveries and resolve design issues with suppliers.
Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
Interface with technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
Periodic travel for integration sessions at other sites and supporting build, test, or customer events.
Required Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 1+ years of directly related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge and practical/hands-on experience with the assembly of electro-mechanical components and systems.
Experience drafting according to ASME standards.
Proficiency with CAD Modeling in SolidWorks.
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with machining practices and what parts can/cannot be created in a machine shop.
Experience with sheet metal design practices, including strength, bend radii, and tolerancing.
Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) practices.
Ability to work independently.
Proficiency in MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project
Ability to work well within a geographically dispersed team.
Able and willing to travel as needed.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Proficiency with ePDM file repository.
Familiarity with MIL standards.
Experience with thermal, fluid, and structural analysis using simulation software is a plus.
Familiarity with Jira and Confluence tools.
Previous experience with military / DoD programs.
