This role is responsible for ensuring that multiple vendors are meeting garment standards and that the information given to vendors is accurate.
The Technical Designer (Project Hire/Internal Assignment) attends garment reviews and captures action items to relay to the vendor alongside our Buyers to ensure the best possible product is produced.This position reports to the Manager-Costume Production&SustainmentThis is a temporary assignment with no guarantee of permanent placement.What You Will Do:Lead garment review sessions. Collaborates with designers and buyers to translate fit and aesthetic detailsProvide guidance to a group of pattern makers to ensure consistency of process and productProvide technical direction, in collaboration with peer teams, leader, and vendor on matters pertaining to specs, pattern, construction methods and techniques to improve fit, balance, and overall quality of the garmentMaintain fit consistency for the product. Ensure standard grade rules are applied to each garmentOversee tech packs from Development to PP of assigned departments and additional product classifications as directedAnticipate and resolve any problems with the fit process. Partners with vendors in the resolution of problems as necessaryAttend weekly cross-functional team meetings, raising any issues that pertain to vendor, quality, and/or timeline concernsWork closely with leaders to enhance and evolve processes and procedures, as the business evolves, while driving to elevate the quality of the productPartner with vendors in the resolution of problems as necessary to maintain standards and timelinesRequired Qualifications&Skills:3+ years of experience in patternmaking and apparel productionExperience developing technical packs that will represent the product to vendorsExperience working closely with vendors/manufacturers to ensure the best product outcomeExperience with Adobe Creative Suite, Product Lifecycle Management software, and Gerber/Lectra software productsExperience identifying fit, balance, pattern, fabrics, and how those attributes contribute to an overall aesthetic and function of a garmentExperience managing timelinesExperience in problem-solving and conflict resolutionExperience negotiating and influencingExperience working in a team environment where collaboration is keyExperience communicating (verbal and written) with all levels of partnersAbility to drive between work locations on a given dayAbility to work around all types of fabrics, fibers, and synthetic fursAbility to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, and holidaysAbility to travel domestically up to 20% of the time and internationally up to 5%Preferred Qualifications:Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport to support international business travelExperience working in the entertainment industryLeadership experienceExperience using Yunique, Flex PLM, Smartsheet, Primavera, CLO, and/or CAD/CAMKnowledge of collective bargaining agreementsProject management experience

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
