SENIOR SPRINKLER DESIGNER JOB DESCRIPTION Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Design and layout sprinkler systems using specialized CAD software packages that are based on the AutoCAD platform. Coordinate sprinkler system piping with other building components. Perform hydraulic calculations.Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts. Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design and/or layout of the sprinkler systems based on the building type, construction type, hazard classification and architectural features. Perform field check of completed design to verify accuracy, if required.Work closely with the Estimation department, Design Manager, and Operations Manager to review the scope sheet and requirements of each project. Coordinate projects to meet delivery dates. Communicate with AHJs, contractors, and other trades. Coordinate with team members for listing of required materials.Coordinate with team members for permitting and inspection requirements. Actively participate in predesign and review meetings. Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures and quality improvement Adhere to company safety policies and procedures to ensure all duties are performed in a safe and professional mannerProvide outstanding customer service Other duties as assigned Knowledge: High School diploma or GED is required Must have experience with designing fire sprinkler systems Current RME-G NICET Level I - IV certification is preferred. Work Experience: Minimum Experience: 6+ years Fire Protection Design experience or a Fire Sprinkler Design DegreeSkills and Competencies: Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is required. HydraCAD is preferred. Visualizes 3D concepts and solves basic mathematic problems, including geometry and algebra Proficient in interpreting and applying applicable NFPA standards, and in reading and interpreting construction documents.Must obtain and retain any licenses that are required by national, state/province, and local codes. Experience with a variety of system types and manufacturers Strong knowledge of industry codes such as IFC, NFPA, IBC, and NEC Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawingsAbility to maintain accurate and auditable records Ability to work in a fast-paced
service/construction
team environment Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to travel as needed Physical Requirements 75% Office Setting, including sitting, some bending, some lifting, walking and viewing25% jobsite visits as needed
