We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated Researcher for our EEG group. The successful candidate will work with a team of scientists and researchers supporting preclinical studies using rodent models. Candidate must be capable of working both across teams and independently. As part of a research team, the successful candidate will be expected to be very observant and to report their observations to study leaders and/or their supervisors. Observational awareness is particularly important when

working with animals

and during tissue collections and include, but are not limited to, reactions to dosing, important cage environment observations (poor nest building, unusual levels of excrement, food/water consumption changes, etc.), recording system issues (cable issues, data collection issues, etc.), possible tissue collection inconsistencies or inaccuracies, adherence to IACUC procedures, and issues with general cleanliness.

Main Responsibilities:

The primary tasks performed on a daily basis in rodents can include:

Test article dosing using various routes of administration (IP, SC, IV, PO)

Dosing and collecting body weights in animals

with implants and that are tethered

Tissue collection (anatomical dissection of brain region, along with peripheral organs and muscles)

Data handling (including graphing and analyzing data)

Study coordination

Perform routine animal handling, care and husbandry

as required to facilitate EEG experiments including taking body weights.

Compile and analyze EEG data which might include sleep and/or seizure scoring.

Communicate to study directors and/or to their supervisor in a clear and timely manner about any issues that arise in the lab or animal rooms.

Record and manage all procedures, data and notes in a laboratory notebook or other manners such as detailed runsheets.

Assist team members with all required activities including surgeries, dosing and data analysis.

Required Qualifications:

1-3 years of labortory experience with rodents

Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences or related field or equivalent experience

Desire and ability to learn new skills and to have an inquisitive mind

Ability to work well in a group atmosphere as well as independently

Strong organization, multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills

High level of commitment, reliability, and excellent motivation to perform and to learn

Able to comprehend and comply with SOPs and IACUC regulations, to follow safety and quality assurance protocols, and to question and/or report any deivations to study protocols

Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Rodent handling skills and dosing experience (IP, SC, PO, etc.)

Strong experience in Excel and data handling, MATLAB or programming experience a plus

Experience with stereotaxic surgery in rodents

Experience with EEG recording and/or analyses

Experience with statistics

Experience with basic pharmacology and drug preparations
