Job Title: Undercarriage Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary:

The OEM Undercarriage Solutions Team is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support upcoming high-impact projects involving the adaptation of CAT undercarriages to various CAT and competitor machines. This is a key opportunity for an experienced mechanical designer to contribute to mission-critical work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to interview directly and expedite placement.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop mechanical undercarriage components and systems to support OEM adaptation and integration efforts.

Work with complex mechanical assemblies involving tracks, rollers, and support structures.

Utilize Caterpillar's internal systems to research part numbers, drawings, and prior configurations for reuse or redesign.

Create and update 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including structural analysis, product validation, manufacturing, and supply chain.

Participate in design reviews and provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle.

Troubleshoot fitment and application challenges for different machine platforms.

Must-Have Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

5+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably related to undercarriage, heavy equipment, or similar systems.

CAT experience is strongly preferred – especially familiarity with part number systems, databases, and general processes.

Solid understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturability.

Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling tools (Creo or similar).

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience specifically with undercarriage systems (tracks, rollers, idlers, etc.).

Familiarity with Caterpillar's internal systems for BOMs, drawings, and engineering workflows.

Experience working in a product development or OEM environment.
