Network Engineer, Illinois

Job Responsibilities

Resolve LAN issues (switching, routing, VLANs, QoS).

Provide on-call support (rotational, including weekends).

Work with Security, Firewall, and Wireless teams for integrations.

Design and implement LAN optimization strategies.

Advise stakeholders on network solutions.

Follow ITSM/ITIL processes for changes.

Required Skills

LAN Implementation & Support (5-7 years):

Cisco switches, VLANs, OSPF, TCP/IP, QoS, IP subnetting.

Copper & fiber cabling, switching configurations.

Technical Troubleshooting:

Diagnose and resolve LAN/WAN issues.

Replace defective hardware components.

ITSM & Change Management:

Follow ITIL processes for documentation and changes.

Soft Skills:

Strong attention to detail.

Effective communication & collaboration.

Required Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field.

10+ years of progressive experience in Network Engineering.

Preferred Certifications:

Cisco CCNA (or higher).

Preferred Skills:

Python, Ansible, or network automation tools.

Experience with DNA Center (Catalyst Center), Wireless LAN, NAC.

Worked in medium-to-large corporate networks.
