Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent supports the Superintendents and Director of Agronomy in the daily maintenance, preparation, and long-term conditioning of the club's golf courses and associated properties. Key Responsibilities:
Golf Course&Grounds Operations Assist in overseeing daily maintenance and operations for the Forest, River, and Meadow courses. Support maintenance efforts for The Farm new build, practice facilities, clubhouse grounds, pool areas, and all properties owned or acquired by the club. Execution of chemical and fertilizer applications, water management on greens, tees, approaches, fairways, and rough.Aid in daily course set up and presentation standards set by the Director of Agronomy. Perform irrigation repairs and supplemental chemical and fertilizer applications as assigned. Water&Environmental Management Assist with irrigation system operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and scheduling. Support water conservation initiatives and environmentally responsible turf management practices. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to water use and chemical applications.Crew&Staff Leadership Supervisor, train, and direct grounds crew members in daily tasks and best practices. Bring a positive attitude to work everyday and support a great workplace culture. Assist with staff scheduling, performance oversight, and on-the-job training. Promote a safe, positive, and productive work environment.Agronomic Practices Assist in the planning and execution of chemical and fertilizer applications under the direction of the Superintendents and Director of Agronomy. Monitor turf health, soil conditions, and plant health, reporting observations and recommendations. Participate in mowing, cultural practices, and course setup as needed.Project&Asset Management Assist with the implementation of agronomic projects, renovations, capital improvements, and new construction initiatives. Help oversee equipment operation, maintenance, and cleanliness. Collaboration&Communication Work closely with Superintendents, fellow Assistant Superintendents, and the Director of Agronomy to maintain consistent standards across all properties. Communicate daily priorities, progress, and issues effectively to leadership and crew members. Other Duties Perform all other duties as assigned in support of the Golf Course Maintenance department and club operations.Qualifications and Skills:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Possess, or have the ability to obtain, a New Jersey Pesticide Applicator License. Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency is a significant plus. Experience in Golf Course Maintenance or Turf Management. Working knowledge of turfgrass practices, irrigation systems, and chemical and fertilizer applications.Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-course operation. Desire for professional growth within the golf course management field. Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and perform heavy physical labor for extended periods, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing. Full use of arms and hands to operate and inspect specialized turf equipment and machinery. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of 50+ pounds.Capacity to work outdoors in varied weather conditions—including heat, cold, and rain—across both day and night hours. Stamina to manage a demanding schedule during peak season, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required. Safety&Working Conditions
Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain, snow) and materials, including chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides (proper PPE and training provided). Work involves operating heavy machinery and power tools, and navigating inherent course hazards like uneven terrain, water features, and wildlife.Responsible for strictly following all safety protocols and ensuring team compliance with OSHA and all club safety standards.
