About the Opportunity:

Sigma Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced GCP Engineer to support our client in building and maintaining scalable cloud-based data solutions. This is a fully remote, long-term contract position ideal for a candidate with strong experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Terraform, and cloud-based data engineering technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and deploy robust cloud solutions using Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Lead enhancements and implementations of high-complexity systems.

Utilize Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure as code.

Support production systems and lead feasibility studies for business systems analysis.

Build scalable data pipelines using tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, and PySpark.

Develop and optimize data models and manage data warehousing with BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and Google Cloud Storage.

Leverage GCP services including Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Cloud Scheduler, and Cloud Run.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in cloud architecture and data engineering.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).

5–7+ years of hands-on experience in cloud data engineering roles.

Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), GCP services, APIs, and SDKs.

Proficiency with Terraform, Spark, PySpark, Hadoop, Hive, and SQL.

Experience in cloud architecture, networking, storage, and computing.

Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Top 3 Required Skills:

Deep knowledge of GCP environment and services

Experience with Terraform development

Strong Database modeling experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience writing Python scripts for data workflows and automation.

Familiarity with Python libraries like NumPy, Pandas, SciPy.

Background in healthcare or insurance industry.

Prior experience in cloud-based data engineering environments.
