Your impact

Jacobs Facility Modeling & Analytics (FMA) Group is looking for a CFD Engineer with expertise in applying computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools to thermal/airflow design and analysis of the built environment. The FMA Group consists of computer simulation specialists embedded within Jacobs’ engineering teams.  Our Group has successfully delivered CFD Airflow Modeling consulting services for advanced and mission critical facilities for over 25 years.  

Our airflow simulation specialists play a key role in satisfying clients’ demands for facilities having high performance and resilience.  As a collaborator in this group, you will:

  • Work with internal and external clients to define modeling objectives, and the required scope to achieve objectives given project time and budget constraints.
  • Analyze complex data sets to understand the story behind the data.
  • Leverage data visualization and graphics processing tools to create stunning visual evidence of analysis findings.
  • Explain, present, and document that story in a concise, meaningful way in terms that may be understood by technical or non-technical stakeholders.
  • Follow and eventually help to improve upon FMA Group proprietary methods of technical report writing.  
  • Support engineering teams need for rapid analysis of alternative design solutions, delivered with accuracy and high confidence.
  • Collaborate with other CFD analysts at delivering work on multiple fast-track projects simultaneously.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering 
  • At least 2 years of experience in HVAC systems and design
  • Proficiency with any of these CFD software packages: Cadence Reality DC Pro (formerly 6Sigma Room). Star CCM+, FloVENT, FloTHERM
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency in technical writing and presentation of technical information 
  • Proficiency with generating compelling data visualizations
  • Solid grasp of engineering first principles
  • Effective presentation and communication skills
  • A constant curiosity and desire to improve
  • Possess a positive attitude

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • Visual Basic, Python, or other programming skills
  • Portfolio of previous work

The base salary range for this position is $74,700.00 to $102,700.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
