Controller
CFS is partnering to identify a seasoned
Controller
to lead financial operations for a well-established nonprofit organization serving the Providence community.
This role offers a hybrid work environment, with regular in-office presence in Providence required.
The
Controller
will oversee the full accounting function and provide hands-on leadership in a mission-driven, service-oriented environment with meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Lead, mentor, and supervise accounting staff, providing day-to-day guidance and development
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Coordinate and lead annual audits and serve as primary point of contact with external auditors
Strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures
As
Controller
, you will partner closely with executive leadership to support sound financial stewardship and organizational sustainability.
Qualifications
Required experience within a
nonprofit organization
Demonstrated
supervisory and people-management experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices
Experience owning accounting operations in a complex environment
Ability to work collaboratively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
The
Controller
must bring both technical expertise and leadership capability to support a growing and impactful organization.
Compensation & Work Environment
Salary range:
$110,000–$150,000
, commensurate with experience
Hybrid schedule with in-office work in
Providence, RI
