Position Summary
This position oversees and manages the commissioning process at the project site, ensuring systems are installed, tested, and accepted in accordance with project requirements. The role emphasizes leadership, organization, and communication while focusing on the technical aspects of commissioning. Key responsibilities include:
Commissioning Oversight
Process Management: Lead the commissioning process, ensuring all systems are inspected, tested, and meet the required standards for acceptance.
Documentation: Oversee the submission of required testing and inspection documentation to secure system approval and facilitate owner training.
Equipment and Scheduling Coordination
Startup Scheduling: Coordinate equipment startup dates and schedules with vendors, ensuring alignment with project milestones.
QA Oversight: Manage the Quality Assurance process to confirm systems and equipment are prepared for startup and commissioning.
Collaboration and Issue Resolution
Meeting Participation: Schedule and attend commissioning meetings, collaborating with the Manager to address and resolve any issues.
Team Validation: Monitor project team activities and validate that all work aligns with the contract documents.
Quality Assurance and Reporting
Inspection Oversight: Oversee QA/QC Coordinators to ensure timely and accurate inspections and reporting.
Project Monitoring: Ensure all inspections, tests, and QA/QC processes are completed as required by the project scope.
Systems Administration
Tool Utilization: Administer and ensure effective use of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or other system tools to update startup and commissioning items.
Communication: Facilitate timely communication of updates and issues to applicable management.
Training and Development
Crew Training: Provide training to project crews on commissioning procedures and tools as needed.
Best Practices: Promote adherence to best practices in commissioning and system management.
Position Details
Obtains equipment and startup documentation for the mechanical and control work.
Develops and administers functional tests, mechanical inspections and quality checks for both basic and complex mechanical systems, control systems and other relevant systems. Partners with the service department and turns over project for service and warranty.
Verifies results of tests reports; assists with trouble-shooting of commissioned equipment as necessary.
Partners with Lead/Manager to coordinate correction of deficiencies found during the commissioning and quality process.
Interfaces with clients, contractors and equipment vendors as needed.
Serves as a mentor to less-experienced Commissioning and quality Specialists
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction or related field preferred or applicable experience
3+ years' hands-on experience setting up and testing HVAC systems, including complex systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret more complex construction documents (mechanical drawings, specifications, etc.)
Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems required
Strong working knowledge of HVAC control systems required
Ability to coordinate projects
Strong ability to effectively prioritize
Strong attention to detail
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel and Outlook required
Strong knowledge of Autodesk applications
Ability to work independently and can make decisions and implement changes. You're good at developing and implementing policies.
