Accountant (PassPort Experience), Corona

Accountant Position Summary The Accountant will support the Finance team with daily accounting operations, compliance, and reporting in a mission‑driven, community‑focused environment. This role requires hands‑on experience with

PASSport , strong technical accounting skills, and the ability to manage government‑funded transactions accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Manage accounting transactions and vendor processes using

PASSport (required) , ensuring compliance with city requirements

Prepare and post

journal entries , accruals, and adjustments in support of month‑end and year‑end close

Perform

bank and general ledger reconciliations , researching and resolving discrepancies

Process and review

accounts payable, invoicing, and payments , ensuring proper coding and documentation

Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with

GAAP and internal controls

Assist with

year‑end audit preparation , including schedules and PBC documentation

Support budget tracking, grant reporting, and funding compliance as applicable

Collaborate with program and operations teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting

Participate in ad‑hoc accounting projects and process improvements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in

Accounting, Finance, or related field

2+ years of accounting experience

NYC PASSport experience is required

Strong understanding of

general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and journal entries

Proficiency in

Excel and Microsoft Office

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines

Preferred (Nice to Have)

Experience in a

nonprofit or community‑based organization

Experience with

Blackbaud (Financial Edge or similar)

Exposure to government contracts, grants, or city‑funded programs
