Apply today!Job Duties: Head Lifeguard: Certification Training Provided Under limited supervision, oversee swimming pool operations and supervise lifeguard team members. Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of the pool area and bathhouse facilities. Perform water testing and manage chemical levels for pool maintenance.Enforce safety regulations and lead emergency responses promptly under limited supervision. Lead Naturalist Under limited supervision lead educational programs, outdoor skill sessions, and events in the park. Educate the public about artifacts and nature within the park's environment. Coordinate volunteers for event support and assist in station setup and equipment handling.Museum Aide (at Historical Park locations): Aid in artifact collections and assist in educating the public about historical artifacts. Provide support in managing museum exhibits and historical collections. Assist with events. Shooting Range Instructor (Chadron State Park, Platte River State Park, Ponca State Park, and Wildcat Hills):Instruct individuals at the shooting range, ensuring safety and adherence to guidelines. Supervise shooting range activities, emphasizing safety protocols for participants. Coordinate and assist in organizing educational programs, outdoor skills sessions, and large events. Office/Administrative - Lead Worker:Serve as the primary support for the superintendent, handling office tasks, including reservations, record-keeping, customer inquiries, and deposit handling. Provide guidance and direction to team members, taking initiative in problem-solving for detailed tasks while working under general supervision.Flexibly handle additional tasks as needed to support diverse park operations. Create a welcoming and hospitable environment for guests across park facilities. Requirements / Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: At least six months experience working in a recreational area, scenic attraction, hospitality, historical, retail or customer service setting, agricultural setting, or related coursework/training.Other: Some positions require the ability to obtain Food Handler's Permit; Lifeguard Certificate or Water Safety Instructors Certificate; Range Safety Officer certification and a valid driver's license. Knowledge, Skills,&Abilities: Knowledge of: history, animal husbandry, anthropology, wildlife, or recreation; the history, culture, and recreational use of the tourist attraction; safe work procedures related to assigned work; water safety protocols and principles; administration of first aid and CPR; record keeping methods; safe operation of firearms; practices and policies of firearms training and public shooting range operations.Skill in: teaching and educating persons of all levels; communicating clearly with persons from a variety of backgrounds. Ability to: meet and deal effectively with the public; understand and follow instructions; plan, assign and coordinate the work of others; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and administrative personnel; recognize safety hazards and take steps to correct the situation; apply agency policies pertinent to assigned work and direction of assigned crews; train assigned employees; plan, explain, and direct work assignments of a small group of employees engaged in the same work; resolve crew problems; learn and apply State laws and regulations pertaining to park operations; multi-task and prioritize responsibilities; bend, stoop, climb, reach frequently; work outdoors; remain standing and/or walking for long periods of time.If you're currently employed by the State of Nebraska, please don't apply through this external career site.
