Academic Intervention Specialist
Classification: REA Reports To: Building Principal Position Goal: To assist with the implementation of interventions and professional development aspects of the academic component of the District's and building's comprehensive plan Qualifications: Level II instructional certificate preferred; Master's Degree in Education or related field preferredPreferably a minimum of 10 years of successful/satisfactory teaching; otherwise qualified candidates may satisfy experience component through a Central Office assessment of demonstrated educational leadership Demonstrated desire to assume additional responsibility and pursue career advancement Demonstrated willingness to assume leadership positionsDemonstrated knowledge of researched-based instructional strategies that engage all students Demonstrated thorough knowledge of elementary and/or secondary curriculum and subject matter Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to prioritize as appropriate Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orallyProven ability to effectively present to adults in a learning/coaching environment Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with administrative, professional, and non-professional staff, with a particular emphasis on building capacity amongst professional colleagues Essential Functions: Provides support in analyzing student assessment dataMonitors intervention programs by providing support to the teachers Implements interventions to students Models lessons when appropriate Provides assistance in researching intervention materials Provides encouragement and emotional support to teachers Works positively toward meeting identified District and building improvement goalsDevelops and maintains a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers Assists building and classroom level educators in implementing challenging and rigorous curriculum based on the Pennsylvania Core Curriculum Content Standards Uses student work and assessment results as rationale and evidence to assists teachers in making decisions about instructional activitiesMaintains all relative paperwork consistently and in an appropriate manner Develops a schedule that is appropriate and equitable to teachers within the schools Participates in professional development activities to build capacity as a resource for schools and to model professional behavior Prepares materials for use by the teachers, department, and schoolAttend PDE initiated workshops Work with administration to plan and facilitate PD for all staff members Perform duties as assigned by the MTSS Coordinator and/or Chief Instructional Services Officer Terms of Employment: Full-time (10-month) exempt position. Salary and benefits determined by the REA collective bargaining agreement.Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Pennsylvania Public School Code of 1949, as amended. The position holder must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
