Description


A growing government services organization is seeking a Controller to join its Finance team.
The Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer and support the development and execution of the organization's financial strategy and operations. This individual will lead core accounting functions, ensure compliance with federal regulations, and partner closely with leadership across departments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in government contract accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting.

Oversee the daily operations of the accounting team, including accounts payable, billing, payroll, general ledger, fixed assets, and cost accounting

Safeguard company assets by implementing and enforcing internal controls, audits, and financial disciplines across departments

Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger and ensure timely reconciliation of accounts and preparation of financial statements

Monitor compliance with federal regulations, including FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements

Review and manage billing processes to ensure contract compliance and alignment with Federal Acquisition Regulations

Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition and cost tracking on all contracts

Support monthly and year-end close processes, including indirect rate calculations and preparation of audit-ready financial statements

Lead or assist with external reporting requirements, including W-2s, 1099s, and bank reporting

Provide oversight of payroll processes, ensuring timely payments and compliance with tax requirements

Maintain and administer accounting systems and master files to preserve system integrity and security

Interface with DCAA and other government agencies on financial audits, cost submissions, and regulatory inquiries

Work on special projects such as incurred cost submissions, rate analyses, and financial modeling as needed

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (or equivalent experience)

7 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in a government contracting environment

Strong understanding of GAAP, FAR, CAS, and the Service Contract Act

Hands-on experience with CostPoint and ADP strongly preferred

Supervisory or team leadership experience highly desirable

Ability to perform both strategic financial planning and day-to-day accounting tasks

Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across departments and with executive leadership

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
