Working Title - Adjunct Faculty - Accounting Agency - Northern VA Community College Division - NV280-Provost Woodbridge Work Location - Multiple Locations Hiring Range - Starting salary is commensurate as based on assigned instructor level, education, and experience. Work Schedule - Varies according to class schedules Sensitive Position - No Job Description - Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in the designated discipline/field of study to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Teaching may include a variety of formats: face to face, remote, and online. Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during summer session. Teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct faculty contract contains no expectation or guarantee of continued employment.Duties and Tasks:Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations ofNOVAand theVCCS.Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.Essential Functions:As a part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.Must reside in the (DC, VA, MD)DMVarea.Special Assignments - May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications - KSAs:·Ability to develop and adapt teaching and learning strategies to accommodate the diversity of community college studentsAbility to use formative and summative assessment measure to enhance student learningExperience with or ability to utilize proven teaching strategies that promote student successAbility to use or incorporate emerging technologies and alternative delivery methods to enhance classroom instructionExcellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skillsAvailable to teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, and online classesRequired Qualifications:Master'sdegree in Accounting or master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting coursework or master's degree in qualifying related field (Business, Finance, Taxation) combined with Commonwealth of Virginia Certified Public Accountant designation. Qualifying degree(s) and courseworkmust be awarded by a regionally accredited institutionA minimum of two years of full-time college-level teaching experience in the teaching field and/or related occupational experienceAdditional Considerations - Additional Considerations:Expertise in the area of Accounting,GAAPand other quantitative areas of accounting such as tax, cost, state, local and non-profit accountingActiveCPAlicense is preferred in addition to other accounting related certificates or credentialsDemonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g. Blackboard or Canvas)Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formatsDemonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environmentExperience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.Prior experience teaching in higher educationExperience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
