Teacher Position

Under the supervision of the Principal and/or other designated administrator, the Teacher develops and implements an instructional program that will effectively meet the needs of all students. The Teacher assesses and evaluates student performance and modifies instructional activities as appropriate.Qualifications: Holds or is eligible for Virginia teaching licensure with the appropriate endorsement (Elementary Education) Demonstrates current and accurate knowledge of subject matter addressed in the curriculum Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and proceduresExcellent communication and computer skills Ability to work with diverse student, parent, and school community Responsibilities: Plans instruction to achieve desired learning objectives that reflect current division and state curriculum standards Creates a positive classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learningAdapts and adjusts instructional techniques to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students Provides a variety of ongoing and culminating assessments to measure student performance Initiates and maintains timely communication with parents/guardians and administrators concerning student progressWorks collaboratively with school staff, families, and community agencies to support student success Demonstrates professional, moral, and ethical behavior and exhibits personal integrity in all interactions Participates in an ongoing process of professional development Performs other duties as assigned by school administratorPhysical Requirements: Average amount of climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions required.
