As the Security Specialist (GS-0080-11) you will serve as Chief, Special Security Officer for the state. Administers the Special Security Office (SSO) and all SCI-associated security programs and measures. Provides detailed research and analysis on physical, computer, and personnel security. This position requires a comprehensive working knowledge of intelligence support operations, procedures, and practices.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a two year trial period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. Must be able to obtain security clearance within one year of appointment.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE :
Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have one year equivalent to the next lower grade demonstrating experience administering the Special Security Office (SSO) and all SCI-associated security programs and measures. Must have experience providing detailed research and analysis on physical, computer, and personnel security. This position requires a comprehensive working knowledge of intelligence support operations, procedures, and practices. Must have experience Initiating and implementing policies and procedures required to manage sensitive compartmented information (SCI) programs and to protect SCI resources. Must have experience acting as resident expert on all SCI security matters. Must have experience functioning as the technical authority in all other areas of classified security and classification guidance. Duties require incumbent to maintain currency on a variety of different security program interrelationships, requirements, regulations and guidance in order to apply this knowledge to protect SCI facilities and materials from espionage, sabotage, and destruction.
Education
If only using education to qualify for this position:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, in a related field
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, in a related field
or
LL.M., in a related field
or
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond a four year degree in a related field.
Graduate Education: Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university
You must provide Official Transcripts as documentation to support your educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
