Location: Austin, TX

Pay Rate: Starting at $76.00/hour

Schedule: Day Shift 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (10-hour variable shifts, rotating weekends)

Dean's Professional Services is seeking a highly skilled and clinically driven Pharmacist to support a leading, patient-centered healthcare system in Austin, TX. This role is ideal for an experienced hospital pharmacist who thrives in a high-acuity environment and is passionate about optimizing medication therapy, ensuring patient safety, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional care.

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and process medication orders to ensure accuracy, appropriate dosing, and compliance with clinical guidelines
  • Evaluate patient profiles for drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, and therapeutic effectiveness
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of sterile and non-sterile medications using aseptic technique and infection control standards
  • Participate in daily patient care rounds, providing clinical recommendations and pharmacotherapy expertise
  • Monitor high-risk medications (e.g., anticoagulants, vancomycin, TPN, chemotherapy) and adjust therapy as needed
  • Conduct medication reconciliation at admission, transfer, and discharge; provide patient and caregiver counseling
  • Respond to drug information requests and serve as a clinical resource for physicians, nurses, and staff
  • Participate in code response and emergency medication preparation
  • Support antibiotic stewardship and therapeutic drug monitoring initiatives
  • Document interventions, adverse drug reactions, and clinical activities in accordance with departmental standards
  • Maintain compliance with formulary guidelines, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies
  • Collaborate with pharmacy staff to ensure efficient workflow, inventory management, and safe medication practices
  • Participate in staff training, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree (required)
  • Active, unrestricted RPH license - State of Texas (required)
  • Minimum 2+ years of hospital pharmacist experience (required; pediatric experience preferred)
  • Completion of sterile compounding training (ACPE or ASHP accredited) (required)
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, dosing, and medication safety practices
  • Experience with high-acuity patient populations and complex medication regimens
  • Proficiency with EPIC or similar EMR systems (required)
  • Cleanroom and sterile compounding experience preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
