Responsibilities:
The Senior Data Scientist will independently lead the end-to-end execution of advanced data science projects, building, deploying, and scaling machine learning and AI-enabled solutions to empower decision-making across all business functions within Post Holdings. This role combines technical expertise in Python, SQL, Tableau, and cloud platforms with strategic business partnership across sales, finance, logistics, operations, IT, and HR. The Senior Data Scientist will drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, ensuring Post remains at the forefront of data-driven innovation.

 

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

Contribute to the projects of the data science team, including delivery of high-quality data, self-service, and machine learning and Generative AI solutions, aligning to the overall strategic objectives

Apply cutting-edge data science tools to enable Post Holdings and its divisions to make better decisions with data

Own the full machine learning lifecycle from data exploration, model development, and validation to cloud deployment and monitoring

Consult with leaders in marketing, sales, finance, manufacturing, and supply chain, understanding and prioritizing the highest-value business problems and create data science applications with quantifiable revenue lift or cost avoidance

Manage machine learning deployments to continually deliver robust, accurate forecasts or recommendations

Serve as a strategic partner to internal stakeholders by scoping projects, defining success metrics, owning technical delivery, and ensuring deployed solutions drive measurable business impact

Develop clear and intuitive data visualizations and dashboards in Tableau, model data with dbt and SQL and present exploratory data analysis results to stakeholders

Communicate project plans, status, priorities with stakeholders and teammates in a timely manner

Grow data literacy across the Post Holdings organization to where decisions at all levels are guided by data and analytics

Evangelize data science and data driven decisions across the Post Holdings network and all levels of the company

Develop and deliver presentations of key results from projects to help understand how to leverage data science and how it can help solve key business problems

Drive innovation by researching, piloting, and implementing cutting-edge technologies, while actively developing the technical capabilities of the broader team

Prototype new tools and analysis methods and grow analytics, machine learning, and data science in every area of the company

Design workflows and integrations between IDEs, version control, and cloud compute

Create documented procedures for configuring, maintaining, upgrading, testing, and coding of analytic applications

Champion MLOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, model retraining, and monitoring strategies

Visualize data in new and innovative ways to drive deeper understanding of the data for technical and non-technical stakeholders

Partner with data scientists with a team-player mindset and champion best practices for algorithm development and cloud deployment

Continuously improve existing development programs to teach practical applications of data science to young talent and ‘up the game’ of your surrounding team members

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and advanced degree preferred (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative subject a plus) or 5+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

5+ years of proven experience leading (or being a lead resource) on collaborative data science projects with technical and non-technical stakeholders, driving and communicating tangible business value succinctly

5+ years of total development experience in an object-oriented programming language (Python 3.x preferred). Knowledge of software design (libraries, classes, functions), testing (logging, debugging), and versioning (Git, continuous deployment)

Experience with machine learning platforms and cloud computing, e.g., Microsoft Azure ML (preferred), Amazon SageMaker, Google Vertex AI

Strong expertise in version control (Git), continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) for ML pipelines, and production model monitoring

Demonstrated expertise in open-source libraries for advanced data analysis, statistical/machine learning models, and optimization, e.g. pandas, sci-kit learn, scipy, and ortools for Python

2-3 years of experience designing solutions with business intelligence, reporting, or data visualization software packages (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, Cognos, R Shiny, D3, Python matplotlib)

Hands-on experience with cloud-based machine learning platforms (Azure ML preferred) and integrating ML models into production workflows

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business insights for audiences at all levels

Ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and ensure follow-through on committed deliverables using team-based project management with both Agile and Waterfall approaches

Proven ability to influence without authority, drive cross-functional collaboration, and evangelize data-driven decision-making across diverse business units

Working knowledge in any SQL dialect

Complex relational database development, maintenance, and exception testing experience required (Snowflake, Oracle, or other)

Experience with data modeling strategies, ETL architecture, and related technical documentation, understanding of universe structure types and corresponding functionality, ability to design, execute, and document test scenarios

Advanced user in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Visio

Candidate will understand SDLC / RDLC / DCLC, waterfall, and agile methodologies and practical application when managing or participating in any project, enhancements to database or system configuration, or fulfilling a request for data / reporting

Must have a team-player mentality that is results driven, customer focused, values learning and innovation and thinks data analytics is FUN!

The pay range for this position is $110,667 - $172,640 per year.
