Description Job Summary: The Senior Buyer will be responsible for leading and executing advanced purchasing activities to ensure timely material deliverability and support daily production requirements. The Senior Buyer will focus on direct supplier management, issue resolution, detailed purchasing execution and continuous improvement within the procurement process. This role will serve as the primary point for delivery, quality, or communication issues providing guidance and support to other buyers and/or schedulers. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Duties/Responsibilities: Perform daily purchasing activities Manage assigned vendors requiring frequent communication and influence Oversee PO lifecycle management Help develop and maintain Kanban processes for the facility Own and manage component cost for select vendors, reporting to leadership Identify, establish, and maintain stocking agreements with vendors as necessary Ensure the plant meets all inventory target levels Ensure all materials are ordered in a timely fashion Notify the Production Scheduler of any potential delays due to parts Produce, analyze, and send adjusted forecasts to vendors as needed Generate and maintain vendor and component data within ERP system Regularly analyze and adjust safety stock levels on all specified parts Coordinate with the Quality Department on non-conforming parts, RMAs, and RTVs Conduct and assist with continuous improvement events to help the Supply Chain Team and Production function more efficiently Support and mentor junior members of the team Manage inventory through product change processes Execute vendor audits in cohort with Quality Assurance team Other duties as assigned Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Vendor On-time Delivery (VOTD) performance Vendor Lead Time Cost Management Purchasing Accuracy Inventory Accuracy to Plan Qualifications Skills/Abilities: Experience with Kanban preferred Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills. Able to understand complex issues and provide appropriate, effective solutions Anticipates internal customer needs accurately and quickly establishes creditability with internal customers Knowledge of how to collect data to negotiate effectively Ability to collaborate across departments and work with subject matter experts Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently Excellent writing and verbal communication skills and ability to report to all levels of management on the status of production activities Openness to receive constructive feedback from various areas of the organization with the ability to turn that into documentation and process improvements Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while completing work activities Software Skills : Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, RootStock) and MS Office Suite (specifically Excel) Communication : Excellent interpersonal skills to work between various functional areas and management Analytical Abilities : Strong capacity for data analysis, forecasting, and supply risk identification Education and Experience: Associates degree in an applicable field (engineering, business, supply chain, logistics) with six years of experience or a bachelor’s degree in applicable field (engineering, business, supply chain, logistics) with three years of experience 3 – 5 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment – required Other degrees considered with 10 years of applicable experience Experience in a manufacturing environment orworking with manufactured products of internal design. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: This is a combination of an in-office position at ECS headquarters and working in the plant or warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job in the Plant or Warehouse, the employee canbe exposed to noise. The noise level is usually moderate. Must have reliable means of transportation to allow flexible work hours as needed. Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb ladders/steps, and sit Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear Frequently required to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods Use a computer keyboard with mouse for long periods of time Occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds Occasionally incur physical demands associated with ground and/or air travel All above could occur in high or low temperatures involving wind and/or precipitation Travel: Local travel and 10% domestic travel anticipated This job description is a summary and not a comprehensive list of possible duties required by this position.
