Database Engineer

Leads and independently supports the global design, implementation, and maintenance of high availability infrastructure for large scale database platforms to ensure reliability of business critical applications. Provides guidance and expertise to management and users on topics surrounding strategy and best practices.Principle Duties

1 Leads coordination of design, development, maintenance, and support of technical infrastructure and system software components. 2 Leads analysis of business problems and lead the evaluation, development, and recommendation of specific technology products and platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet business and technology requirements.3 Research and design best fit infrastructure. Guide configuration, debugging, and support for infrastructure and ensure all quality and change control standards are met. 4 Leads root cause investigations and provide recommendations for preventative measures. Proactively address gaps with existing support processes, documentation, etc. and prioritize accordingly.5 Develops and documents processes, procedures, and best practices. 6 Provides regular status, operational, incident, and change reports. 7 May supervise or manage four or fewer employees, and responsible for team's performance; coaches and mentors team members. 8 Performs other duties as assigned.Education

Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Preferred: Master's degree and/or LOMA certification Experience

Required• 5+ years of experience supporting Oracle and other database hosting systems (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and services utilizing high availability, performance, and reliability. • AWS database platform management utilizing Terraform and Ansible. • Advanced ability to automate and maintain automation for core job functions to increase effectiveness.• Advanced skills in database platform administration tasks including installation, patching, clustering, log-shipping, and performance tuning. • Advanced understanding of scripting fundamentals such as Shell, SQL, PL/SQL, Powershell. • Advanced skill in at least one enterprise operating system.• Advanced knowledge of application/data security best practices • Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge. • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions. • Advanced investigative,analytical and problem solving skills.• Advanced ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects. • Ability to balance detailwith departmental goals/objectives.• Advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions. • Advanced skills in customer relationship management and change management. • Ability to manage multiple projects or teams and set applicable goals. • Advanced negotiating and persuasion skills.• Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines. • General business knowledge.
