Description
Our Client, a Power and Energy company, is looking for a Structural Designer (Transmission) for their St. Louis, MO location.
Responsibilities:
Design creation for construction prints of transmission substation or transmission line projects.
Decipher information from multiple sources to prepare basic sketches, drawing packages, and record work.
Create or modify drawings on which no definite design has been established.
Interpret approved standards and basic engineering guides for information as needed. This could include sketches, marked up standards or specifications, or verbal instructions.
Requirements:
Drawing types include layouts, plans, and details of the following:
Grading
Foundations
Steel
Equipment
Equipment bill of materials
Grounding,
Conduit
Lighting
Security plans
and other structural drawings as assigned
Check equipment manufacturers’ prints for conformity to design.
Record work
Occasionally, peer review drawings of other Structural Designers.
A strict adherence to guides, standards, and processes is a must.
The ideal candidate would also possess the following skillset:
Ability to understand the impact design changes have across all drawings and how drawings are interrelated
Capacity to apply spatial awareness when working with 2D drawings (i.e. clearances, interferences)
Responsible, consistent, and flexible time management (i.e. project management, prioritization of projects based on deadlines and complexities, considering time for multiple review processes)
Collaborate with engineering and peers, asking questions, conveying challenges/issues with projects, and sharing timeline statuses (i.e. attend project meetings, asking for/receiving feedback on areas of improvement from their peers)
Communicate professionally in both written and verbal forms
Qualifications:
Five years of experience in Structural design related work, preferably in substations or transmission lines.
Associate’s Degree in structural design, architectural design or other related design technology at an accredited university, college or junior college.
