This position within the Office for Equity, Access, and Inclusion (EAI) provides senior-level technical expertise and develops capacity building for Department of Corrections (DOC) leaders responsible for ensuring agency compliance of Title I and II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); the State of Minnesota's and MNIT's Reasonable Accommodation policies and procedures; the Connect 700 Program; Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 relating to religious accommodations; Minn. Stat§181.939 and §181.940 relating to nursing parents and pregnancy accommodations; and other relevant federal and state laws, policies, and procedures as they apply to DOC's clients. This position provides objective, impartial, and accurate advice across all levels of the organization. It engages directly in and documents the accommodation and modification process; coordinates modifications for incarcerated individuals and accommodations for agency staff; participates in facility ADA committee meetings; supports agency staff and facility leadership in providing accommodations; tracks and monitors cases; investigates complaints and concerns; maintains accurate records; and collects and analyzes data for administrative reports. Additionally, this position supports strategic initiatives arising from the agency's Affirmative Action Plan, Equity Change Plan, and other EAI Office efforts, including departmental accessibility requirements. It also provides technical and subject-matter expertise on ADA-related policies and projects to advance an inclusive environment and equitable outcomes for people with disabilities. This position is subject to the State of MN's telework policy requiringemployees living within 50 miles of DOC's Central Office location in St. Paul to work on-site 50% of the time. Completion of a telework agreement is required. Teleworking employees are required to live in Minnesota or a bordering state in a county along the Minnesota state line. Minimum Qualifications To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Three (3) years of experience working with the ADA and its regulations, which must include: Coordinating reasonable accommodations for a wide variety of requests; Interpretation and application of the ADA and other related laws and policies in relation to accommodation requests; and Advising management and/or other professionals regarding ADA compliance. _Note: A Bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one-and-a-half (1.5) years of experience. A Juris Doctoratemay substitute for two (2) years of experience._ Preferred Qualifications The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position: Experience developing, implementing, or supporting processes focused on improving accessibility in government programsor services. Experience developing policies or protocols to support compliance with the ADA. Knowledge of digital accessibility best practices and/or ability to design digitally accessible documents. Knowledge of State approved vendors for ADA-related technology and services. Experience and/or skill in designing training programs. Knowledge of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act. Top candidate(s) must pass acriminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation. Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy.
