ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

JOB SUMMARY: DESIGN OF ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS/EQUIPMENT

FOR DETENTION FACILITIES

Will do mechanical work based on what phase of the project is active, need to be open to that and fluid with the project

FUNCTIONS:

Designs electrical/electronic control systems utilizing AutoCAD and other electronics control system configuration software.

Review existing electrical designs and specifications.

Determines systems specifications to show how systems will be utilized for submittal and approval.

Determines parts/materials for purchase/fabrication of systems.

Work with AutoCAD and Information Systems (Applications department) staff to coordinate processes and drawings.

Ensures the systems will be compatible with existing systems and operate without causing overloads (data/power).

Provides engineering input to project Field Services activities including construction and the work of field engineering and/or Service and Warranty staff to ensure quality control; provides input for schedule coordination, political liaison, inter-company technical coordination, public relations.

Work with Project Management, Customer Service and other entities to ensure compliance with design specifications and requests for changes.

Estimates the time and cost of engineering projects.

Perform Q.C. checks to verify tolerances are within specifications and that fabricated product is to print (Use of various inspection and testing equipment may be required such as electronic testing equipment, (i.e.) volt meters and network testers)

REQUIREMENTS:

Strong reasoning and troubleshooting mindset.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to communicate well orally and in writing with other departments and outside agencies.

Knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to electrical and electronic devices/equipment.

Ability to read and follow schematics and drawings (Understand written instructions as well as symbolism).

Ability to produce engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications for electrical and control systems.

Thorough understanding of relay logic.

Working knowledge of the AutoCAD design suite software. (ACAD Electrical is a plus)

Knowledge of construction/architectural/engineering terminology.

Understanding of general concepts of network topologies, cabling mediums, routing and switching hardware and applicable industry standards

Ability to interpret national codes and standards.

Knowledge of systems including but not limited to: PLC, intercom and paging (digital and analog), video surveillance (digital and analog) and access control.

Ability to manage and perform component to system level design.

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating System(s) & posses the ability to address issues/configuration settings regarding core system variables (IP address conflicts, Remote Desktop Connections, installing and configuring various software, etc.)

Proficient with Microsoft Office software (primarily Word and Excel)

Open to doing Mechancal in additon to Electrical duties.

Up to 15% travel in and out of state to perform Engineering site surveys, troubleshooting, and acceptance testing.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering

Recent Graduate with intern will be considered, 1+ years Engineering Experience Preferred.

Must be able to understand all verbal and written communication for production and emergency instructions

Construction, start-up and O&M experience is a plus

PREFERRED:

Electronic security industry certifications are a plus (CCTV, Access Control, etc.)

Field experience in the electronic security industry is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

Must be at least 18 years of age

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

90-day probation period

Meet production and quality requirements as specified by Electronics Manager

Must be able and willing to follow instructions

Monitor quality of assigned tasks and correct any deficiencies

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Notify supervisory personnel of any production difficulties or other applicable information

Conform to, support, and enforce all Company policies and procedures

Participate in any and all reasonable work activities as deemed suitable and assigned by management. Must be willing to work in other departments as needed.
