Math Coach, Ruther Glen

TITLE: Mathematics Coach (Title I position)

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Holds a Postgraduate Professional License with an elementary math specialist endorsement, preferred.

2. Has a minimum of five (5) years of successful public school experience, three of which must have been in teaching.

3. Demonstrates ability to work cooperatively with teachers and administrators.

4. Demonstrates interpersonal relations, organization, communication, and problem solving skills.

5. Demonstrates understanding of the Virginia Standards of
Learning.

6. Knowledge of and experience implementing research-based instructional strategies

7. Proficient in technology and on-line or web-based instructional programs.

REPORTS TO: Principal and Title I Coordinator (Director of Educational
Programs)

JOB GOAL: To improve mathematics instruction and provide targeted math intervention by utilizing effective teaching and coaching practices that will allow Title I students to reach high academic standards.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Collaborate with individual teachers of Title I students through co- planning and co-teaching.

2. Work in small groups and with individual Title I students to improve math skills.

3. Co-plan and work collaboratively with special education and classroom teachers during grade level and content area team meetings.

4. Assess and monitor Title I students? progress.
5. Plan effective lessons based on identified Title I students? needs and progress.
6. Employ a variety of research-based instructional strategies, integrate technology, and incorporate instructional media to increase achievement of the Title I students.

7. Communicate regularly with staff serving and parents of Title I students regarding student progress.

8. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct Title I students? records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.

9. Keep a daily log of Title I students? lessons and attendance.
10. Formulate and implement plans that will improve students? math skills.

11. Help each student acquire the skills needed to function in the classroom.

12. Obtain parental support and involvement in the Title I program.
13. Strive to implement by instruction and action the division?s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Contract year and salary are established by the Board.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board?s policy on evaluation of professional personnel. Goals, objectives and strategies submitted annually by September 15.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
